i dont like it when americans talk about our governmnet and say "we" as in, "we are bombing irag". im not bombing iraq; they took my money (under duress mutherufkcer) and spent it on bombs and shit. There is a seperation between the people and the government.

Like it or not the government is the olny thing keeping people from murdering one another en masse.

maybe it's keeping You from killing people, but the reason i dont kill people is because its a fucked up thing to do to someone.  i mean, ive already killed all the people i want to kill and that number is zero.

plus governments murdering people en masse is kind of a hallmark of governments.  all the big ones were tax-payer funded.

Do you have any frame of reference that suggests people without government would be better off?

Some governments did kill people en masses. Some didn't. But at the end of the day, governments aren't sentient beings. Individuals decided that people ought to die. Individuals decided to carry out orders. Individuals decided not to see what they didn't want to.

that's a fair question pete, no, i dont have any frame of reference, i dont know if im right, it's just a fervent hope & a desperate prayer that peaceful solutions will work out better than violent ones.

"governments aren't sentient beings"
this is a very good point and one i make often.  and yer right;  every genocide, every war, every time an individual human is killed there are individual human(s) who are responsible. just because one specific government engages in genocide doesnt mean all do.

but i kinda feel like that's saying, "not all smokers develop lung cancer".  it seems like its a lot easier to kill a lot of people with the structure of a government.

Peaceful solutions that act in the short run often cause greater problems in the long run. Also, the abolition of government wouldn't happen peacefully by any means.

Most governments aren't guilty of any sort of mass killing. The evils of oppression by some governments isn't as bad as the evils of untamed existence that would exist without any form of order.

those are all suppositions, pete,  i'd like to think the onus of proof is on the person claiming we need violent solutions over peaceful ones

We have no records or any manner of recording that comes before the beginning of even tribal government. Along with the fact any cessation of rule of law has resulted in destruction, theft and murder, I contend this is evidence enough Mankind cannot exist with itself without government.

you say "fact" and "evidence", but you're only speaking in assertions.  mind you, i wont do any better, but i think if you take a broad look at history, you will notice that governments have become less powerful and people more free.  you will also notice there is much less violence.  in the bronze age, hitlers were a dime a dozen.  even a couple thousand years ago, five bucks would get you a pack of stalins.  i think the rule of law has resulted in destruction, theft and murder, and i contend than Mankind can exist without involuntary government.

A true American patriot hates the government, since our country was founded on the idea of small, limited government and not following and liking the government and giving it more power.

they took 7 billion dollars of our money to bail out the banks who are giving all of their money to China and Indonesia for trades that the general public done even see... then "our" government send Saudi Arabia 60 million dollars in military equipment along with 65 F-15 jet fighters to fight for their independence and in turn killing our own soldiers!... no wonder we so close to having a revolution on our hands....and the people always win!

Don't the people elect the government?

first, who is "the people"? i didnt elect anyone in government so clearly im not one of "the people". wierd how when anyone talks about "the people" im never one of them.

a small minority of individuals elect "the government"
take out the people who cant vote, and take out the people who voted for the loser and you have a significantly small amount of people.
